The Mortgage Bus Puts Wheels to Buying a Home

(COLUMBUS, OH) – Buying a home has suddenly gotten a lot easier. A North Carolina businessman has built the first patent-pending “Mortgage Bus,” which allows would-be homebuyers to simply step aboard, get pre-approved, and be handed the keys to their new home.
“I wanted to create something that was eye-catching, memorable and would help reduce fears people have about borrowing money for a new home,” said Fred Hicks, owner of The Mortgage Bus and branch manager of the Cary, North Carolina office of Family First Mortgage Corporation.
The 21-foot Sprinter van conversion and attached 20-foot trailer were modified by Creative Mobile Interiors of Grove City, Ohio. The vehicle’s formal interior was specifically designed to enhance the overall home buying experience. Framed floral art pieces decorate the walls. High tech equipment is concealed behind custom-built cabinetry creating a more spacious, upscale atmosphere. The rear of the vehicle showcases the “Diamond Lounge,” with leather upholstered bench seating around a diamond-shaped removable table. Perhaps the most distinctive feature inside the vehicle is a 37-inch flatscreen television that rises with a touch of a button to fill the space between the driver’s compartment and the front lounge area.

With a bright green wrap, (the color of money), the exterior prominently features The Mortgage Bus’ logo. The wrap was done by Applied Graphics of Mansfield, Ohio, who also wrapped a Honda Element with similar scheme to increase the exposure of the Mortgage Bus brand name.
“The Mortgage Bus is essentially a concierge service where mortgages, real estate sales and loan closings are offered in a professional mobile environment. Customers will be able to complete a loan application, select a rate and close their real estate transaction onboard the bus,” Hicks said.
The bus can also be used for entertaining guests at social gatherings. Entertainment capabilities include an exterior awning, cook top grill and refrigerator. The awning-covered meeting area gives Hicks the ability to provide home buying and credit counseling seminars for first-time homebuyers. Attendees can view educational multimedia presentations on an exterior 37-inch LCD monitor.
The matching trailer stores equipment and golf carts to help customers tour housing subdivisions. It will also be used as a mobile trade show booth for remote networking events.
