Excalibur Coach Specializes in Slides

When a customer recently brought a 2000 H3-45 Marathon to Doug Stolfo of Excalibur Coach, it began a process that would span 10 to 12 weeks involving consultation, design, and construction. Due to Doug and his crew's broad experience with Prevost Coaches and their expertise with slideouts, it provided impressive results for the client and satisfaction for a job well done for Doug and the Excalibur team.

Excalibur Coach is owned by Doug Stolfo. Doug started working with slideouts in 1995 at Marathon Coach where the slideout industry first got it's start on the Prevost shells. Many things were learned in these early days and Doug has carried them forward. Doug worked for Prevost from 2000 when the first slideouts came off line. There was a learning curve for Prevost we all went through for the years to come and Doug has carried that knowledge forward. Doug has worked with HWH slideouts as well as many other manufactures that build slides on the Prevost chassis. Service Manager Kevin Kilpatrick who has worked for Country Coach, Marathon and Prevost also brings a vast knowledge of slideouts along with 18 years of coach technical knowledge.

All Excalibur Slideouts are custom made to fit each coaches' floor plan. The length of the slide rooms are specific to each coach do to floor plan and customer preference. The salon rooms can be up to 22 feet long with a depth of thirty inches. The salon slide in designed to house the galley with dishwasher and the washer and dryer or any combination of refrigerator, galley, washer dryer, etc. Our design does not interfere with the height of the storage bays and keeps them intact for maximum storage. The bedroom slideouts are up to 14 feet and up to 30 inches deep. They can have the bathroom including the shower and or closets with a king bed.

The structure below the slide rooms utilizes the strongest parts of the coach, the front and rear substructures. These substructures house the suspension and axles and we encompass them to make a super structure for the Slideouts. The structure added to the coach is all 304 Stainless Steel. The slideout rooms are made of aluminum tubing and insulated with closed cell foam. Excalibur sheets the top and bottom of all slide rooms with 1/8 inch aluminum to insure strength and integrity. The aluminum is tack welded and glued in to place to prevent sagging and to guarantee water tightness.

The slideout room is build with radius corners to enable the use of an inflatable gasket. The gasket is mounted to the structure surrounding the rooms and inflates up to 45 psi. The gasket is made of a high density rubber and has a very long cycle life. A wiper seal is mounted below the inflatable gasket and acts as a protector when the gasket is deflated to keep out debris and moisture.

The slideouts are moved in and out on linear bearing to insure the smoothest of movement and prevent crabbing and any up and down rocking. Crabbing is when the room is moving in or out and one end moves and then the other moves, similar to the way a crab walks. The rooms have mechanical stops for both in and out motion along with electrical limits to position them precisely.

A single switch operates each slideout and two redundant systems back up the main switch. An overriding switch located in the bay operates the motor along with a manual mechanical drive on the motor allow motion in and out.

The interiors are remodeled by some of the leading craftsman in the industry. There are flooring experts, solid surface experts, upholsters not to mention the over the top cabinet making talent. All of the these craftsman have worked for several other leading manufactures in our industry and have all converted coaches from start to finish. "We have the ability to do complete conversions with all this talent" Doug told us.

Doug has spent over 22 years in this industry and plans to keep supplying clients with diversified services for many years to come.

Excalibur coach offers services to owners who love their coach but would like the extra room of a slideout. It makes good sense to many owners to invest the money in the coach they know and trust to get the most recent luxuries. Options are available like adding one-slide rooms or up to three. Excalibur will update flooring and upholstery or add cabinets and exterior body improvements according to the owner's requests.

Excalibur is happy to work on smaller tasks such as any service repairs, interior updating including updated TV's and HD satellites in the coach.
