Legacy Coach: Helping Clients Create Lifetime Memories On The Open Road

Brandon Blythe was 8 years old when he emphatically asked his parents for a motor home for his birthday. What they couldn’t have known when they bought him a pop-up camper was that it would spur a lifetime commitment in Brandon to share his love of traveling with others.

Now the owner of Legacy Coach Inc. in Rockwall, Texas, about 20 miles east of downtown Dallas, Brandon looks back to those early memories and the foundation they laid for the success he enjoys today selling high-end coaches.

Looking back some 27 years, it’s noted on the Legacy Coach Web site that “all of (Brandon’s) spare time went to caring for, improving and camping in that little Coleman camper. For years to come, through camping trips with the family to road trips with best friends, Brandon and his pop-up made memories.”

Today, his focus is on helping others make those memories in a motorcoach that surpasses their expectations.

“Each sale of a motorcoach is a chance to put another customer into the coach of their dreams and share the opportunities we've had exploring the open road,” said Brandon, an Arkansas native who moved to Texas in 2000 after finishing college at the University of Arkansas.

Once Brandon and Kaylee married, the two began devoting their time to providing the best experience to each and every customer. That approach has ensured loyalty and repeat business for Legacy Coach, vs. the “one and done” mentality of some coach dealerships, Brandon noted.

Brandon began his career in the service-side of the motorcoach business. The knowledge and experience he gained during this time was invaluable, not only in the ability to understand coaches mechanically, but also to help customers better understand the inner workings of their coach.

“A lot of people said I couldn’t do it this way – to start my own business with high-end coaches without spending years working at a dealership or for someone else,” said Brandon. “But we did. We started from the ground up, and now our reputation precedes us. It’s very gratifying to see our customers return to us time and again."

Today, the Blythes operate out of a 125,000 square foot indoor facility in a known RV business corridor just outside of Dallas that features up to about 15 new and preowned coaches ready for sale in the indoor dealership. Located between the major East and West Coast dealers, Legacy Coach has a natural edge with the central U.S. clientele who don’t have to travel far to see their selection of Class A coaches.

The facility also houses Luxury Coach Service, which specializes in the repair, maintenance and upgrades of coaches. The one-stop approach catering to the luxury coach traveler has brought success to the Legacy Coach, who provide only clean, high-quality inventory ready for travel, Brandon added. Among their inventory are Prevost and diesel fiberglass coaches.

“We work very hard to have inventory in different price brackets, all the way from the $150s to the upper $700s,” Brandon said.

Among the most brand-loyal are Prevost owners. “It is truly the ultimate in land travel,” Brandon noted. “It’s the smoothest, quietest and most luxurious way to go.”

One of the most significant ways Legacy Coach continues to meet the needs of their customers is by living the motorcoach lifestyle themselves. Each year they spend an average of 6 weeks traveling by coach, sometimes to visit clients and other times for leisure travel. “We have fostered relationships with people all around the country,” said Brandon.

One of their most memorable trips was driving the entire state of California from north to south; they also enjoy driving to NASCAR events and calling on friends and clients in areas as far north as Northern Michigan.

“We really love being out with the customers and rallying with them, and experiencing what they are experiencing,” said Brandon. “We love the lifestyle and love to travel. The fun is meeting all these people; it doesn’t feel like a job. And people sense that, they see that we love what we do and they trust us when purchasing their coach.”

Among their favorite trips are the annual Prevost Owners Group rallies, this year it was held in Las Vegas in October. There, many people noticed that the Blythes will soon have a new traveling companion on future excursions; Kalee is due with their baby girl in the end of December.

“Everyone said, ‘Next year, we’ll see you at the rally with a 10-month old!’” Brandon laughed. “We are so excited.”
